I'm just wondering how possible it would be to significantly reduce my a1c levels in 2 months? I have had my appointment through for my clinic on the 17th September which gives me 2 months. My reading at the beginning of the year was 13.7, and last time (mid May) I managed to get it down to 10.2.
I know this is still way to high but I am trying so hard to get it down so please don't point out the obvious!!

Now for various reasons I let it slip again until the beginning of July when I really started taking it seriously (had some feet problems recently and need to get it under control) So by september I will have had roughly 2 and a half months of good blood sugars. I haven't had a single sugar over 10 in the past month which compared to having every reading over 25+ before is a lot better.

I was always told by my docs that your blood cycles around and once every 4 months (I think) you will have a completely new set of blood cells than you did 4 months ago. I don't know how truthful this is but is but would 2.5 months be enough time to get my a1c to say a low 9 or even 8 from 10.2?

You certainly have enough time to do something. The reason is that although you will have blood cells that are a few months old there will be fewer of them than you might think. Some of them don't live the whole course and get replaced early. This is why it is said that the last month before your blood test is the most significant.

Go for it.

Brilliant! I've been on a downward spiral since I moved up to the adult clinic which is bad as in the children's clinic my result was never more than 7% mainly due to my mom being brilliant at keeping me in check. Had my rebellious couple of years with it and have seen what it's done to some of my friends eye wise and nerve wise etc and I definitely don't want that! Focusing on getting it back down to below 8/9 every meal then can look at fine tuning it!

Thanks for your help!
