Can a carby meal last night cause headache for hours or days later I had potato cakes tinned.tomatoes and some chicken with coating on wont be doing that again just wondering if anyone else done this how to ease headache how long did it last I feel lousy now definitely learnt my lesson now no more for me

A butcher's sausage roll just made me feel terrible for a while, and it was only a tiny bit of pastry.

I don't think there is a simple answer to the question, and after a year of being very low carb (but really concentrating on low insulin) I still get the occasional headache that makes me question what I'm doing, or whether there is something I can do better.

I would say in the specific, while you are in a state of transition, you will be more sensitive to the things you are trying to transition from, so your experience with the potato cakes (I would say tatty scones, but there you go...) and mine with the sausage roll may just be a temporary over-sensitive thing.

It's the same for me with wine, the less I had, the more sensitive I became to the smallest amount (though I don't know whether you would see that as a positive or negative)....

in the round, I think (or I should say my experience leads me to believe) that you do need to be strict in order to create a change in your metabolism, but then living your life after achieving that change can look different. I haven't gotten to that stage yet, and everyone is different.

Also - I've come to the view that as you drop carbs, and your baseline glucose goes down, your kidneys are simply more able to flush properly, so you don't hang on to sodium the way you might have in the past - so (again for me only) - I have to take about a gram of salt crushed up very fine so that it dissolves, every day.. and I've come to the opinion that I need to include some table salt in that - to increase the iodine level; in other words, I think that my occasional headaches may be pointing to an iodine deficiency, and that this should only be a temporary thing as well.

Yes, too many carbs can cause severe next day headache in me.
Occasionally I can stop the headache by taking a little neat sea salt directly under my tongue. And 10 minutes later a glass or 2 of water.
I also now routinely add salt when cooking
