Diabetes!!!
Good Morning. For a week now I've been experiencing very dull (at times light throbbing) like headaches on the back left side of my head and on occasion some pressure behind my left eye. Although not painful enough to warrant painkillers I did take 2 and hours later the same sensations would return. I'm due to resume my diabetic medication from today after my doctor temporarily asked me to not take Glaucophage or Gliclazide to test my blood sugar stability without Meds. Could these headaches be down to not taking my medication leading to high blood sugars or could it be something more sinister such as Glaucoma or worse?! For the record I'm based in the UK.

No one here can diagnose but the question I guess is are your sugars high right now without the meds? High sugars could cause a headache but so could a hundred other things. I think this problem rates a doctor visit.

That is pretty high. Are you eating low carb or would you consider it? If not I would suggest going back to your doctor soon as you do not want to leave it that high for any length of time.

Chalup, whilst low carb is likely to help Sean with his high numbers, which could improve the headaches, as others have suggested, it's not the only thing that could be causing them.

@Sean-W - If you are due to restart your medication today, the it makes sense to crack on and do that and see what happens over the next day or so. The Glaucophage takes a while to build to it's most effective state, but the Gliclazide should have a bit of an impact on your numbers quite quickly.

However, it's important not to ignore headaches without knowing what is causing them. It could just be your body being stressed by your higher numbers, but it could also be an array of other things. I'm not posting that to scare you; just saying headaches happen for a huge number of reasons.

I hope things improve for you.

Yeah I was going to give it the weekend to set in and see what I'm like Monday. I've got an appointment made ready incase there's no change. In the meantime I'm taking the medication and drinking a lot of water. I'm due to check my bloods in a moment so I'll post the updated result.

Hi, if you look up at my first post on the thread I clearly stated that headaches could be caused by high blood sugar but could also be caused by a hundred other things and that the OP should see his doctor.
