Ok so the past few days or so or maybe longer I keep getting heartburn for no reason (well there obviously is a reason) I just don't know what....All I have eaten today is a bowl of fruit and fibre and 2 slices of toast for lunch and now I just have a very bad case of heartburn and a slight bellyache...I am going to ask my GP tomorrow but I am just so confused....my sugars have been 5.1 7,.4 and 5,5 today! hmph

I'm guessing that your doc will shrug and suggest antacids.
Which is fine, but it you use them consistently you will end up with malabsorption of vitamins and stomach acid imbalances.
So please don't use them often enough to rely on them.

My experience of acid indigestion/heartburn is that it started in my early 20s, occasionally.
Got more frequent.
Couldn't work out why...
Cleaned up my diet and discovered that it only occurred after bread or wheat products.
So I reduced and eventually avoided them.

Then (in my 30s) it started with rice. and oats. and barley.

So I now avoid all grains - unless I want indigestion.

Your mileage will, of course, vary.

Ahhh the bread could explain it...I have IBS too...could that be related?? I'd eat alot better but when I have hardly any money it is hard :(

yup, IBS is often linked to wheat intolerance...

Easy to test though.
Alternate days when you eat bread and days that you don't, and take note of the indigestion... ;)

Okie dokie...I'll skip the bread tomorrow and see what happens lol! xx

I put almost daily indigestion down to fat in my diet for years... Until I did LCHF. Now I know that it is absolutely wheat in all forms that gives me really bad indigestion. A battered fish doesn't spike me but the wheat in the batter gives me bad acid so I've given up!!! No bread I've tried (and I think I've tried them all!) is any good for me either.

Have you been tested for Coeliac? If you have and the result was negative you could be gluten intolerant.

No I havent been tested for Coeliac....how would I go about being tested for it? My Doctor would probably just shrug it off.

It's a blood test checking for antibodies, I had this done astmy pre-pump assessment.

As Noblehead says an initial blood test is done, if positive then an endoscopy is done for diagnoses. The blood test is not that reliable though, so if it's negative and your GP wont take it any further then remove wheat and gluten from your diet and see if that helps. Do not remove anything though until tests have been done, this is very important.

Then change your GP, that is totally unacceptable

I should really...or I will just have to make an apointment with the better GP there even if it is a longer wait! I am on gabapentin for my migraines but they aren't doing anything, and my neurologist wrote her a letter telling her the medications she could try me on if gabapentin didn't work....and she refuses to try me on something different all because I am apparently too young....I am 20 years old and I am not exactly small either argh!! And as for the sleeping she said to just have a glass of milk before bed and to try kalms....even though I have been using them! It's making me more depressed :( Xx

What's happening with your move Nicola? Will you have to move GP, when you move?
