I live in Spain and the past 2 weeks the temperatures overnight have risen, making sleeping uncomfortable!! My morning readings have gone up, from 6.5 or thereabouts to around 8 Can the heat make readings differ?

There was a discussion on the forum a few weeks ago when the UK was experiencing high temperatures, some type 1's and type 2's reported that the heat can effect their bg either sending it higher or lower than normal, not being able to sleep makes you stressed and stress in itself can push bg up, hope it cools down soon and you start to get a good nights sleep again:)

Could also be that your "Dawn effect" is kicking in earlier as you're waking earlier. If I leave testing too long after waking up, I know my BGs start to rise even with no food. A half hour delay, like testing after shower, shave etc rather than before, can make a difference of 0.5 to 1.0 in my reading. And it's not co-incidental. I've tested immediately on waking and again half an hour later and seen the climb. So laying in bed not sleeping could do the same maybe?

Hi, im type 1 and lived in spain for 10 years......yes the heat does affect your bloods, i found my blood sugars would tend to drop in the summer months especially june-august, I just made sure i tested more frequently and had to keep an extra eye on things......I came back in 2008 and dont seem to have these problems in the uk in jun-aug< but thats understandable as its cold and windy :)
