Hi, I'm type 2 diagnosed diabetic, and on my last check up a couple of weeks ago in December, the nurse told me there was no need for change with medication from my first being diagnosed in September. My medication being 1 Metformin 500 tablet on a morning with breakfast. My husband bought me a surprise gift for Christmas, a Shiatsu massager seat which massagers the back, area you want or all of the back. On opening it up and reading the instructions it says not suitable for diabetics? I don't understand why as how would it affect your diabetes ? I had a go yesterday, but don't want to keep using it if its going to harm me, although it was lovely using it at the time. I suffer with slipped discs in my back so my hubby got it me for that reason. Does any one know why it says not suitable for Diabetic`s and reasons why?

I think a lot of these gadgets are just being cautious in case the person with diabetes also has neuropathy. I notice that the same sort of warnings are in spas for their treatments. Not suggesting anyone else does, but I decide for myself what I deem to be suitable. I am fortunate enough not to have any diabetic neuropathy though.

I've had one for a couple of years now, and never had an issue. If you do decide to use it Please remember that it is something you need to do gradually (it isn't the same as a person massaging you) Don't use more than twice a week and build up time, 5 mins to start with no more than half an hour, drink plenty of fluids and stop if it hurts
