Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say hi again and re-introduce myself. I had a baby last August and was diagnosed with GD during my pregnancy.

Once my baby was here everything just went a bit topsy turvy for a while. I re-gained the weight I lost while pregnant unfortunately and I think I have basically been in denial for a while!! I had another OGTT when my baby was 6 weeks old and it came back with impaired glucose fasting but bascially ok for glucose tolerance. And I think I sort of took that as license to let things slip for a while.

It was always there at the back of my mind and I wasn't ignoring it as such, more thinking that I would deal with it when my baby was bigger (I have a little boy too and life is a little hectic much of the time with very limited time for taking care of myself).
I had started learning tennis though so I wasn't ignoring it completely but I was eating badly again.

Anyway last week I noticed that my feet were very hot in the evenings and I googled it and everything I read just says that it is connected to diabetes. I even googled pre diabetes and hot feet and there is some research to suggest that even as prediabetic you can still get complications. So this panicked me into sorting myself out again. I did some blood testing too and while my results weren't terrible they were high for me.

So, am back on low carb and have seen my numbers drop greatly already. Contuining with tennis (was v keen to find an activity which I genuinely enjoy), have done a couple of runs and been swimming. Need to make my health a priority now.

Anyway after that ramble, I will leave it there but just wanted to say hi again!

Hoping also that I can start to offer support to other people now I am in a better place myself.
