Hi Kat100, thanks for reply, i am sure their is

Novomix 30 is a good thing to start with for a t1. Its great that u keep ur levels in range. Take care not to hypo & take small amounts of food inbetween lunch & dinner if there's a wide gap inbetween.... Look around the forum & learn. This is a great place to learn from people's experiences.

Welcome to the forum

Don't know a lot about Novomix 30 but I expect your diabetes team will move you over to basal/bolus sometime soon, pleased you've got a good handle on your control and hope it continues.

i found out that novamix30 is a background insulin, since i come out of hospital 18 months now my bloods have almost been around the right markings, all i done was stop sugar in me brews and on breakfast ect,,,, i have changed my diet, no pre-made meals now, all fresh and plenty of fish, changed my bread to wholemeal, do not take milk in my brews now, i drink water with fresh lemon and lime, same with a cup of tea black with lemon and lime, i am just beginning to learn carb counting, as at the moment i am taking 10 units once a day as i do not know how much i should be taking, a cpl of week after coming out of hospital, i could not take any insulin as it made me go low and i had a hypo, so i took none for over 7 months on a daily bases, only needed it every now and again i had to eat a lot to stop it going to low. wow it has been hard work trying to get info on being a t1

Hi. I think you will find the Novomix is a mix of long-acting (Basal) and fast-acting (Bolus) insulin. It is good to start with it. If you find you want more control with a wide range of meal patterns with carb-counting then going to two insulins (Basal/Bolus) as already mentioned is the next step.
