Hi, i have been diabetic type 2 for about 15 years, on insulin for 5 years, at the moment am on Humalog mix 50 twice a day and lantus solostar at night. my bloods are not as good as they should be. my hubby showed me the bit in the paper today about victoza which is why i googled it and found my way here! i am seeing my specialist on monday and i want to ask him about this, i am also about to go to slimming world as i need to loose weight which will hopefully help my bloods too. i feel a failure with my bloods at the moment as the lantus was added to make a difference and it seems to be making little difference to me, in fact the last few weeks have been getting worse. this afternoon i felt rough and my reading was 16.7, starting in morning about 10. any encouragment suggestions appreciated. :)

Hi there and sorry to hear you feel so rough. I was never on insulin but was heading that way with an hba1c of 10.5 and BG readings usually in the teens and I felt vile and depressed. Anyway to cut the story short I got Byetta (another drug you could think about) on June 9th this year and it has changed my life, I feel so much better and hba1c is now 6.
At my clinic they tend to start patients on Byetta (from what I can see many do well on it) if for some reason they don't get on with it they try Victoza. I think Byetta is a little cheaper so that may be behind the reason. Weight loss on this drug has been great for me and I have lost much of my appetite.
Good luck.

many thanks for your encouragement Jane, i certainly will speak out on monday, think its time i became a bit more proactive regarding my treatment rather than be so accepting. i am sure i will soon feel better as i keep bouncing back! :D
