Hi, my names Gemma but I’m posting on behalf of my father who is 80, he is a Type 2 diabetic, I am after advice.

My dad came out of hospital on Friday after a week of covid and an infection. Today he has slept all day, we can only wake him to put a tiny bit of food down him or drink some water. His blood sugars are 8:3, but he is just sleeping all the time. we on hold with 111 but we just can’t get answers.

I hope you'll get through to someone quickly at 111.

The 8.3 blood sugar is not high or low enough to cause issues like this, they're very nice for a diabetic. I wouldn't think it's the diabetes causing this.

Welcome to the forum @Gemma Brown. Are you able to measure your dad's oxygen level, and take his temperature at all? If you don't get through on 111 fairly soon, I'd suggest ringing for an ambulance, at least the paramedics could check him out, and tell you if he needs readmitting to hospital.
