Type of diabetes
Don't have diabetes
Treatment type
I do not have diabetes
Took the plunge and registered on here as I have been reading through the forums. 52, 6ft 1in male, overweight ( 257 pounds ) and suspect I may be pre-diabetic. Am just getting over treatment 12 months ago for prostate cancer ( prostate removed ), Hernietated disc at C6/C7 and now MRI on Thoracic and Lumbar. Symptoms seem to point me towards diabetes T2, though GP says blood tests all normal. I will post detail in the pre-diabetes forum. Eddie

Hello Eddie and welcome. Sorry to hear about your other medical problems and hope you can get the back sorted quickly. You certainly don't want diabetes on top of all that! Good to see you took the plunge, and hopefully you will gain a lot from being on the forum.

Welcome to the forum Eddie I think you are very wise, I wish I had found this place 6 years ago.
Loads of good helpful information.

G'day Eddie welcome mate,

In Australia the Docs send you for a glucose test if your routine blood test shows a high blood sugar You glug a bottle of glucose rich soft drink, wait and get tested then wait and get tested again. It is about 14 years since I did it but it went something like that. You go back to your Doc and he gives you a bundle of pamphlets and maybe a script for tablets or just suggests diet and exercise. When you get beyond that and probably need jabs he gives you a referral to a specialist that is good for one year and then you need a new one.

But there is always the option of buying a meter and doing 10 tests a day for a few days.

What symptoms are they, if your bloods are ok, I'd look for something else
