Hi
My daughter was diagnosed January 2008 with type 1 diabetes. She was 5 years old. I don't think I need to tell you how devastating that was but a year on we have got our heads round carb counting, basal bolus regimes and HbA1c. I feel we have done a crash course at degree level and just about survived. Having said that my daughters HbA1c is usually in the low 6s but this weekend she had her first severe hypo. Very scary.

Hiya malice and welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun last year :)

We have a number of parents of type 1 children who are members of this forum. I hope you enjoy your time on here.

Regards, Tubs.

Hi Malice67, welcome to the forum. I'm a mum of a 10yr old boy T1 diagnosed 3yrs ago. You've certainly worked wonders in your first year to have a Hba1c in the 6's, well done. Enjoy the forum, even if your knowledgable you'll still come across new tips and advise, it a fantastic place for parents, even to chat. Take care Suzi x

Thanks Suzi. I think the main thing I have learnt overthe last year is never be complacent because as soon as you are it will bite you on the bottom. That is my main reason for joining last weekend proved that to me.
Malice
