Hello, I am new to the forum! I am Type 1 following diagnosis almost 15 years ago and my HBA1C has been problematic for sometime!!! I have been accepted for an Insulin Pump (following Consultant referral) and was formerly accepted back in March........however here I am still waiting!!! To be honest Communication has been all one sided from ME! There have been problems with resources, staffing Etc it's really hard to stay focussed and motivated, especially when family and work colleagues have been prepared for the big change of starting pumping!!!! I have had valuable guidance and advice from reading the website and Forums.....so thank you everyone! I think I have bought every book recommended on here and am learning with every thread. I only hope I can help others too! Many thanks

Hi @Poppy2 and welcome to the forum.

It does seem that some people wait longer than others for a pump, almost a postcode lottery.

Look forward to your postings.

Hello,

That is a very long wait for a pump! What pump are you getting?

Good Luck :) x

Hello, thank you for the welcome. I have only been shown a pump as an example so at the moment have no idea what types are available, or if there are choices! Regarding the wait, I have no one to compare to, was hoping others may be able to offer their experiences. I live in South Wales

Right, I live in London/Essex, I was diagnosed about 6 years ago and my control had been pretty ****! Hba1c constantly over a hundred about 4 lots of DKA....I then mentioned a pump to my consultant and she said that I should go for it...so I did I asked my DSN and she put me forward that was in about June 2013 and by October 2013 I had the Accu-chek aviva combo...which is really good!

@donnellysdogs maybe able to help with the South Wales bit as I know she lived in Wales for A while :)

Good Luck x
