Hi , my first visit here . Only diagnosed this morning after three fasting tests and feeling unwell . I`m not seeing the diabetes nurse until Friday so dont yet know what route I`ll be taking re meds , I already take atenolol for high BP which is under control but have been shocked at the diabetes diagnosis and feel very anxious indeed . Hoping that joining a forum like this will help , reading others experiences is always good and helps you feel less isolated

Welcome to the forum.

Diabetes is readily controllable and with good self care from yourself and reasonable care from your health care team you can expect to have a normal life expectancy without complications.

You say you have been feeling ill. If the symptoms are due to high blood sugars you can look forward to feeling better once this is sorted out. Have a good nosey through the forum and you could be better informed about diabetes than the nurse by Friday!
