Hi Teresa welcome. It's normal for non-diabetics to get a BG rise after eating. what did you eat?

cold beef salad & jacket

That would not be too good for a diabetic, well the beef and salad is fine but not the jacket and better full fat than low fat yoghurt (or low fat anything). To be honest I don't know what the increase for a non-diabetic would be to that, 15 minutes is quite a short interval, we would normally test at 1 and 2 hours after starting to eat, at least initially.

If you are concerned take a few readings before you eat and at 1 and 2 hours afterwards for different meals.

hello and welcome
i,m newly diagnosed so still learning

Hi Teresa
Why do you ask out of interest ? The reality is that everyone's blood sugar rises after eating- the key for yourself is that that your body brings it down with the production of insulin. To be honest if it wasn't bringing it down you would know about it. When I was admitted to hospital with diabetes my blood sugar reading was 31 and that was on an empty stomach !
Depending on the time period between eating and when you tested I would say that 9 is probably OK.

hi , just done another 2 hrs later & its 9 , so perhaps its normal ,im sorry about the questions , i was concerned , my best wishes thanks , if it wasnt for forums with help like this we would all be at the doctors lol

Non-diabetics are normally under 7.8 at all times. There may be the odd exception after a particularly heavy carb meal. As jacket spuds are quick release carbs I would expect the peak to be about 1 hour unless there was a lot of fat in the meal.
