Hello to everyone & thanks for the all the information & the optimism I'm starting to feel after quite a few hours of reading through the boards. I'm - as far as I know- type 2. Still trying to get a straightforward & sensible diagnosis with no mistakes, errors & mix-ups with blood & urine samples. After being told by an optician that I needed to sign up with a gp as a matter of urgency, I did that, & I've slipped over into Alice land. Believe me, curiouser & curiouser doesn't do it justice. That's flippant, I'm actually very scared, bewildered & very very angry. I was on the verge of paying to see an eye specialist until I was told any hospital referral couldn't be for NHS treatment, I'd need a NHS GP for that. I'm changing GP & hoping it's third time lucky. In the meantime I've bought a bg monitor, testing strips & bathroom scales & I've started eating the low carb. diet. Oh, goodness, I will miss good bread & rice, the only way for me to manage that is to cut them out completely. I'm also fond of pastry, & early this morning my mind turned to fluffy light dumplings......
