[QUOTE="esmedarling, post: 107250, member: 23246"] Hi John, unfortunately this is not the very beginning. The first diagnosis was made years ago. Lost medical records, dismissive doctors, episodes of being -& looking- super fit, other episodes of being hugely fat & semi-stupefied. Far too many doctors, just like lay people, rely on their first visual impression. I was either simply far too fat or I looked perfectly fit & healthy. To be honest, if it hadn't been for the rapid deterioration in my sight I wouldn't have gone near a gp again. The practice I just signed up with has already made a hash of things, & despite faxes & phone calls from my optician they have no intention of referring me to an eye specialist. A phone message from one of the gp's told me that she'd looked at my recent medical notes & there was nothing in them about my eyesight so I didn't need to see a gp, just attend the diabetic clinic "as usual" As USUAL ??? I've only just had 'their' first hospital test results back. & my RECENT medical notes? Whose notes are they looking at? I certainly have no recent notes, I've not seen a doctor for years & years. I think this oddness may a local thing, I did try another surgery before this one & as soon as I spoke to the receptionist on the phone she interrupted me & told me I was not going to get any sleeping tablets & why didn't I just go & buy a packet of paracetamol. I'm not angry because I'm diabetic, I'm very angry about the local NHS workers & that I've somehow copped for the particularly alarming ones. I think this moan may be in the wrong place. Esme.
