Hello everyone,
I'm joining from the beautiful Mediterranean coast of Turkey.
I'm a type 2 diabetic, was diagnosed just a few months ago. Had the symptoms from at least 3 years before that however. I'm 26. Diabetes appears to run in my family. Not sure if my grandparents had it, they were never tested. But both my parents have type 2 diabetes and quite a few females from my mom's side of the family. My mom was diagnosed about 5 years ago when she was 50.
I'm on Metformin 750mg and following a largely vegetable and lentil based diet. I take walks everyday. I'm overweight, also have hypothyroid which I'm well on the way of overcoming.
Interestingly, I requested a glucose tolerance test from my doctor thinking that I could be suffering from hypoglycemia. I was dealing with anxiety which I read has been linked with hypoglycemia. But the tolerance test showed the opposite, that I have hyperglycemia. My mom knew it when they made me drink the 75 grams of glucose at the hospital and I became extremely nauseated and began throwing up. What diagnosed me was my 1 hour post eating glucose levels (240mg/dl). The levels at hunger state and 2 hour after were normal.
I have quite a few questions and I'm a beginner so I need to learn a lot more about this condition. I had seen this forum several times before and decided it was time to join.
So Greetings!
