Hello & urgent help needed please

Hello

My 13yr old son is newly diagnosed and we need to change the Lantus cartridge in his JuniorSTAR pen but have no instructions! There is a tiny ring which looks like it should unscrew according to pictures on google but it won't move! Anybody got any ideas? Many thanks

nope just different problems. but it fits into your sons life as part of it and not all of it, as it would seem now.

getting to know your sickday rules before you need them is a good idea, for when the bloods are high and the ketone strips are +++
these are worth a read and may help
 
Thank you - not heard of the Sick Day thing yet - think the hospital are breaking me in gently! Will go and look at your links

It will take 6mths to get your head around this, don't put too much pressure on yourself.
the diabetic care team are very good with kids and are only a phone call away.
I haven't heard many complaints about kid care.. 'new adults are a different issue'

I would try and not get too excited when the bloods are good, or 'show' too worried when there is a bad patch...teens seem to get a pass/fail attitude easily and when you are testing 7 or more times a day ... having it just a number to help with control ..makes a difference.

Hi Jack - thanks for the links - the etiquette guide for parents is really useful - will make his big sister read and follow it too
 
So totally agree with the etiquette guide to print off and remember...

It really does sum up our feelings... Took me nigh on 26 years to read that and give my parents, hubby and relatives.... And friends.

Now 30+ years and I still had to tell my mum last year that I am her daughter, not her 'diabetic' daughter...

Good luck on being to handle the parents aspect ... Its very hard for parents..
