Hi everyone
I'm in the scary position that I'm sure that a lot of you know. I've just been diagnosed with prediabetes and I've not a clue what to do about it. Hopefully I will find some answers and support here. I was told I had it she talked about losing weight. Then said" so you know what do do, have another blood test in 3 months." and that was it.
 
Losing weight is fine, but reducing carbs (not just sugar) will make a huge difference. Lots of advice on here about how to do this if you want to try.

I'm disabled so can't exercise but still lost a lot of weight on low carb in addition to getting T2 diabetes into remission without meds.
 
If you are an ordinary type 2 then usually it is really difficult to lose weight - but fortunately type 2 is basically all about not controlling blood glucose well. To gain control it can be as simple as not eating the starch and sugar in the first place.
I used a blood glucose meter to check levels after eating and adjusted my menus to keep below 8mmol/l after eating. Once I was doing that consistently I kept to the same regime and my levels went down as my metabolism recovered.
After 6 months I was no longer in the diabetes ranges and eventually I was classed as in remission.
We seem to deal with carbs in slightly different ways, and some can eat some foods with less effect on levels - some with more. I seem to get about 80% more carbs from peas and beans than most people. Checking is the only sure way to know what to eat.
