there, I said hello.

i am not new to diabetes, i had hypos as a child and young adult, gestational diabetes and never really bounced back to normal.

i was the model patient when i was pregnant. always spot on.

so recently it seems neigh on impossible to get my blood sugar down despite low carbs and even after 6 hours! of non stop moving my body ... still around 15mmol.

needless to say that last time i saw a doctor i was treated as if i am an moron (lecture, more lecture despite having heard it all before) and let alone the "you cannot get the treatment you want, we prescribe something that will make you fatter instead" despite me voicing my concerns about having gained about 3 stone of weight in the last 10 years...

in the last year or two my body shape changed. yes, it might be due to age but my belly has become so much bigger and my waist is all but gone, which was not the case prior.

so, i am here, at my lowest, as i have had issues with blood sugar levels as long as i can remember but now its just not funny any more.

sorry, to vent, when i am meant to say "hi" and smile but this is seriously bothering me.

btw hi :)

hi , welcome :)

hopefully we can help, even if its only to listen, lots of clever people here always ready to offer advice and one moron always ready to say something silly (me)

now, now, i read some of your posts, none of them sounded moronic ... i am more worried about "clever people" giving me the same advice as any health care person ....

I agree with Andy's post! I would seriously recommend LCHF. I have lost 1 stone 5lbs since 28th of Jan and non diabetic husband 1 stone 10lbs. I never feel hungry, I am not so grumpy from all the sugar and although you can plateau (I did for 3 weeks) it starts to come off again. Try www.dietdoctor.com to get some info then ask around for recipes! Nice to meet you :)

I agree with Scandichic too, I would highly recommend LCHF - I too lost a stone since january, l was quite scared at attempting it for a start but as it's high fat you don't feel hungry - lots of lovely healthy food the LCHF forum with the recipe's is great for idea's too. (The cheese sauce which you can use for cauliflower/veggies is great!) Just try out substitutes for the carbs and sugar and take it easy - wishing you every success. xx
