Keep getting that thing saying introduce yourself.
However, a lot of people have already helped me out with a few issues and seen me moaning about my high bg in other threads. lol
So hello people!

Hi & welcome ,
I'm new to this too. My readings are very high too. Been dieting all week , but have no idea if it's making any difference, so resolved to get a meter. My hubby thinks I should wait till I getone from the nurse, as he reckons I'll obsess-too late for that.
How are your levels now? How long have you been a ' sweet thing' ?Trying to have a positive spin on the T2 'Fat Club' thing.Although, you don't look like a member of that section of the D.group.
Take care

I'm a type 1 with PCOS and insulin resistance so I know how it feels from both perspectives. I take metformin too. My numbers have been a lot better. I have been trying to lose weight also as I have gained a bit. I have started LCHF diet but my numbers were terrible as i seem to convert protein to glucose a lot so it's gauging how much insulin to take. If you are trying to lose weight with type 2 I recommend having a look at the low carb forum on here. They explain it and it is a great diet. It stops cravings etc. I haven't had success as yet because of high glucose, but I'm getting on top of that. Good luck :)

Hi,
I've started to do the lchf, but my eyes are still very blurry, which the dr said means the BG is high. I think the meter is going to be the only way to work out what's happening. I'm gutted that I've had to cut out fruit, cabs aren't bothering me half as much as I'd expected,
you're right you do feel very full. Losing weight, but not feeling fats due to the eyes.'!!hope the diet does make things better, as there are a pile of apples begging to be eaten.

Disturbing for you that you are converting proteins- hope you resolve your challenges soon.

Hwyl,
Sue

Yes, once you get a meter life gets relatively easier. However, if you worry, like me, you may end up testing all day and get yourself really worked up. I was told off yesterday by my nurse for testing too much, which I understand because I was driving myself insane. Are you NHS funded? If so, you may have difficulty getting enough strips with type 2. As I'm type 1 they are quite generous, but I have had problems in the past. I do believe type 1 and 2 should have equal opportunity to test as they are both chronic conditions. Just try to make a good argument for why you need to do blood glucose. I think you do have a good reason though as blurry vision is a sign of high glucose and if you can't test your glucose and find out what affect food is having on your blood glucose you won't know what actions to take.

P.s I also love apples, but I don't miss them as much as I expected
