Hello, I've just joined. I've got Diabetes 2 - had it five years according to my GP but I think a lot longer. It didn't help that my GP refused to test me for a long time- 'If it's not in your family, you haven't got it'. Needless to say I've now changed surgeries
Just got back from my 6 monthly check-up and the nurse is really pleased with me 'cos on her scales I've lost 9kilos in 6months! I'll stick with her scales as the ones in the gym aren't quite as generous!
As you've probably gathered from my username I'm female. I'm also overweight (there's a surprise) but I try to keep as active as a full-time job allows so I swim half a mile every morning and try to get out for a country walk every weekend. I'm gradually working up to longer distances as I had foot problems for several years which added to arthritic knees lost me a lot of confidence for quite a while. Still, I'm on the right track now - even seem to have the diet sorted- I'm carb counting. I'm only into my 4th week but it's coming off slowly!
So that's me, I'm off to look at what people are saying about low-carb diets now,
