Just a quick hello from me in Bulgaria.
Finally took the plunge and got diagnosis confirmed last week and am totally embarrassed by my a1c and finger prick glucose. I think I've had my head in the sand most of the year but with the effects on my fibro and migraines I couldn't deny it any longer.
Started on metformin 1000mg XR for a week then up to 2000mg XR next week. If still uncontrolled in a couple of months then I'll request an SGLT2i as well.
Despite having quite a lot of knowledge on DM (company writes educational clinical audits for GPs in UK) getting my head around food is a totally different matter! Breakfast is my hardest struggle at the moment, there's only so many eggs I can eat in a day :playful: and the nausea/indigestion from the metformin is real. Now need to venture into the Bulgarian yoghurt / cottage cheese breakfasts which feels really strange at the minute. Sticking to under 110 carbs most days straight away which I've found quite easy for now.
Just wanted to pop on and say hi before I delve into all the other resouces

Hi there @Shazbatty - welcome, and while I think many of us can relate to those emotions; there is nothing to feel embarrassed about - not here, and not in general. Hope you find something useful, and please share some of that knowledge..!
