Help and advice needed.

last year I was diagnosed Type 2. I managed to control it with the help of tablets and diet.

However I am under a lot of stress in my job - the job and the morons I work with! I've tried for 6 months to tell the boss - whose son is a diabetic and had real problems so they should understand - I need help but to no avail. As a result my diet and control has gone out of the window and I've started to comfort eat mostly chocolate which I know I shouldn't.

This morning while washing up I went very light headed and had to have some fresh air and a lie down. Living on my own this scared the **** out of me thinking what could have happened.

I know what I should do but could I pass this as a one off warning and try to get back on track with my diet or should I get it checked out. My review isn't for another few months yet.

A couple of things.....

Do you test and do you know what your BG level was when you felt light headed ?
Do you test blood pressure at home. Have you any idea what that is at the time you felt light headed.

There are many things which can be not related to Diabetes and so it is important to have this checked out with your GP. Stress etc can also be linked to not only the Diabetes but Blood pressure readings.........
 
I don't test my blood sugars at home. I am on tablets for my blood pressure but this is well controlled. I have in the past few days eaten more chocolate than I have ever done even though I know its bad for me.

I feel okay now if a little thirsty.

Have to say that if you are not testing there is no way of knowing if it is Bg related......if you want control you cannot rely on GP/Nurse tests. You have to have a meter and use it.

I am on BP meds too and if my BP drops too low I can sometimes feel light headed, getting up from sitting can cause it because sometimes the meds are controlling it too well. Another reason to have a cheap home testing device.

Seriously, I would mention it when you next see your GP.......it really can be down to many things.
Thirst could be down to much but in Diabetes is usually related to high Bg numbers. I don't feel light headed when my Bg was mega high, usually when it is very low.......?? :?
