Hello everyone.
My name is Michele, I'm from Italy but now I live in London. I'm in London since the 16th of July so one month is already gone :)
I plan to stay even longer, so i'm starting to think about my Diabetes needs. Of course I've brought my stuff (insulin, furniture, etc I've got an insulin pump.). Now i was wandering what I need to do. I suppose that I've to found a GP now that I got my National Insurance Number. Is that correct ? Will the GP help me with my diabetes needs ? I think I will also need to monitor my HbA1c because, 3 months already passed from my last check-up .

Hello Michele and welcome to London.

I think you're right, you need to register with a GP who will advise you - he/she might refer you to a hospital department, depending on what borough you live in and what experience the GP's surgery have with type 1s and pumps. Where I live I only have an HbA1c every six months though. I don't know how much of your medication you will have to pay for yourself, being a non-national, but perhaps someone else on here has experience of this.

If I were you the first thing I would do would be to get an appointment with a GP, and I wouldn't leave it too long because things might take a while to get sorted out and you don't want to run out of test strips, insulin and pump consumables.
