Help! Disappointing review and high alt!

Hey all

Well I have had a very disappointing annual review especially when I thought I was on the right track! My hba1c has shot up to 80 and my alt was high!
I've been carb counting everything. The only thing that was good was I've lost weight and my blood pressure was normal.
Had a quick chat about the pump with the doc but I have a very physical job and im scared the pump wouldn't suit my lifestyle. Anybody got any comments on the pump? Good and bad.

The doc has suggested a new blood monitoring tester that calculates the amount of insulin to give. Anyone using this?

So I have another blood test in 3 months time and been referred to the diabetic clinic.

Feeling at a loss right now. Especially having the talk about pregnancy, I can't imagine ever getting my bloods down into the 40/30 range so that I can even try for a baby!

So sorry to hear you have had a rough review. It's hard especially when u feel yourself you have been making the effort and trying to make a difference.

I also have a fairly active job and most pumps wouldn't suit me, but I have recently gone on the omnipod and I really really like it! Have you heard of it? It's not connected to you with wires, you have a pod of insulin that is attached to you and a controller. I would like to have another baby and my sugars were impossible to control when i was pregnant, so that's why j have switched to this from pens.

Has your doctor given you the insulinx machine? I had one of those and it was fab, if u are going to go on the pump it's a good way to practice X X X X

No I have never heard of that. To be honest I don't know a lot about the pumps, I guess I will learn more about them when I get referred. How is it attached to you? Do you have to keep it on you constantly?
I haven't heard about the insulin x machine either.

it really is good as you don't have any wires / tubes.

it is disappointing if you don't get the kind of results you are aiming for :(.
hopefully you will get some benefit from the new meter and get your results lowered for your next appointment.

I use an animas vibe which has the tubing attached and worked on farms dealing with livestock including shearing sheep whilst using a pump. There is no problem at all.

Back to your problem now though, have you checked your basal to see if that is correct do you test before meals and two hours after, have you the right carb ratio for your needs? How long before a meal are you injecting?
 
Yea i test before and after, before is usually higher then the after test. I get my food ready, inject then eat pretty much straightaway. Or if I have to wait for food it's usually 15 mins. My carb ratio seems correct I have played about with it in the past.
I was worried that my liver us being affected, but the doc is testing to see if I have celiac disease as I have had symptoms of that.
