Hi looking for reassurance .. please no scary or negative comment as I’m finding it hard to cope...I’m scared. I’m 27. Last may 2017 I had laser 2 weeks later I had a bleed in one eye.. since then Iv had numerous bleeds and fluid.. now I’m awaiting a vitrectomy as they said gel is pulling on retina causing bleeds.. I have good and bad days with vision in that eye ... am I going to be ok will my vision get better and be regained .. at the min it can be blurry and things look smaller like texting letters look tiny. Please give me hope as I’m 27 young girl struggling to live say by day without fear and I can’t think positively ... I wish I could hear good stories.... i need hope and reassurance ..I’m attending eye and ear hosp Dublin .

Thanks @Diakat for the tag. Also tagging @noblehead , @francesk and @Jkoko56 who have previously commented on personal experience of vitrectomy.

Vitrectomy has a very good success rate for improving vision when the problem is on-going diabetic retinopathy bleeds into the eye, particularly if the patient has already had laser. However, as with any operation, it is very important to follow all the instructions given for the follow-up period to minimise risks of complications.

Here are some information leaflets about vitrectomy:-
