Help I am so unsure

Sorry to come here and not know stuff you all may think is simple. I have a history of type 1 and type 2 in my family mum and dad bouth type 2 and two brouthers type 2 and my sis is pre.
They all live away and I have no contact with them so cant ask them my stupid questions.
So here goes!!! drum roll>>>>>
I have been sleeping toooooo much,drinking more,moved my bed and the tv into the loo and suffer from non-stop infections on my feet and other "areas" . I sat here last night and it hit me that I may have one problem here and not lots of little ones? so I went and got a kit to test by blood sugar
and it came up with a number 144???????? (8 mmol/l) what do that mean and what do i do next?help please. this was a fasting test had not eaten for 12 yours
 
Dunno how you got a reading of 144 ... I'm sure my meter has a maximum of 33 before it displays an error number such as E-4 etc. Are you sure that reading is not 14.4 ... 14.4 is high and if I were you I would seek out professional help PDQ!!
 
8 is a a bit high, I'm assuming your meter is set to mg/dl t which is why you got 144, we use mmols/l in the UK

Regardless, you should see a doctor

Hi,
You do need to see a Dr. who will confirm if you are or are not a diabetic. A reading of 8 is not a dangerous level so Monday will be OK. Try not to worry too much.

What unit is the meter measuring in? mmol/l or the americam mg/dl?

If using mmom/l, need to double check to see that is a decimal point between the two fours.. This would still be a high reading but did you wash your hands so you had no contaminates that could effect the actual reading?

if using mg/dl then 144 would be around 8mmol/l approx at the top range of normal control...

But the only person who can really tell you if you have or haven't got diabetes is your Doctor, I would make an appointment with them and discuss this with them, as it seems to be concerning so better to check and have your mind put at ease either way..
