I 'third' @Debandez and @Indy51 's advice. I live in Adelaide. And am on a very low carb diet as a Type 1 diabetic. Just be aware that dietitians in public hospitals and clinics are very much discouraged from prescribing low carb or very low carb diets by their regulation body Dietitians Association of Australia. It is a political matter of grave concern. If you google Jennifer Elliott vs DAA you will see what has happened and why. That is why LowCarbsDownUnder consists of private dietitians not regulated by DAA, and doctors who have a grounding in nutrition and diet (and see also Dr Gary Fettke vs APHRA in which I allege that DAA had a hand in trying to de-register a doctor regarding his promotion of low carb diets) DAA I contend has not declared any conflict of interest in its apparent suppression of low carb diet prescription whilst being sposored in part by the food industry. I have found a range from disbelief to acceptance amongst GPs to the diet, although my endocrinologist assures me most endo's are aware of the diet but a little reserved about it. Despite the health professional madness I encourage you to seek out LowCarbsDownUnder health professionals regarding your interest in the diet. The Australian Department of Health has sanctioned low carb diet as one option of a weight loss program but I could not find any reference to the Department recommending the diet for use in persons with diabetes. Diabetes Australia Position Statement of August 2018 on low carbohydrate diets only refers to those with a daily carbohydrate intake of less than 130 g. No further divisions between low and very low are mentioned. The Statement appears to recommend caution in taking on low carb diets in my view and you will notice that the majority of the committee behind this statement are dietitians registered it would appear with DAA. Furthermore they do not declare any conflict of interest in their registering body, DAA being sponsored in part by members of the food industry. Or that DAA has de-registered dietitians in the past for prescribing low carb diets. I allege this makes the recommendations to diabetics to discuss low carb diets with their health team rather a sick joke.
