Hi, I'm a 20 year old guy. At the age of 14, I started having excess thirst and the urge to urinate,polyuria, (typical diabetic symptoms) Blood tests were conducted, my bg was 25mmol/L and my Hba1C was 13.1%
A dr immeadiatly started me on insulin injections, 12 units in the morning and 12 at night. In 7 days my bg started regulating and every two days I decreased my dose as I exercised more and more. I eventually stopped treatment for a year. My dr told me it's a honeymoon phase however my Anti-GAD is negative, and my polypeptide C test is 0.7 (a little bit under average)
Hyperglycemia came back as I had realy important entrance exams, but this time even insulin had no effect on me. Injecting upto 15 units had no effect, it was as if I'm injecting water.
I tried different doctors each one diagnosing me as either type 1, type 2 and LADA (1.5)
A dr even told me I am not diabetic.
Does anyone know if a negative GAD test can give a solid diagnosis?
