Evening everyone. I am the husband of Karenb1410 (the starter of this thread) thank you all so much for the advice. I have been really struggling of late. Frustrated with what I was doing wrong and why I couldn't control my blood sugar levels. I've been struggling mentally and lack of energy and moody at times. Now I know why. In my meetings with my diabetic nurse I have been telling her the type of things I have been eating and she has never commented on the fact I might well be eating the wrong things. She has always encouraged eating porridge for breakfast, telling me it is a slow release carb and will help keep me fuller for longer. After reading the thread this morning I had a fried egg, bacon and a sausage. For lunch I had a cheese and ham omelette. Must admit I felt a lot better later in the day. I did my bloods when I returned home and my reading was 7.1 Just had a bit of salad with mackerel and ham and some cheese. About to take my metformin and I am going to skip my statin. I've no doubt I'll have a lot of questions to ask and I am sure I will get the right answers from fellow members. Once again thank you so much for the advice and the encouragement.
