Hi I have been unwell a couple of times this year and have had diarrhoea. At these times my blood sugar levels have been quite high. I am just wondering how I keep it down and at what level should I worry about it and call medical help?
Hi and welcome. Are you type 1 or 2 diabetic? For T1s there are "sick day rules" that explain what to do.Hi I have been unwell a couple of times this year and have had diarrhoea. When we are sick our blood sugars will go up temporarily. 11 is higher than normal but not anything to worry about urgently. You might want to make an appointment to see your GP about the diarrhoea.Hi I am type 2 and diet only. I still try to eat normally when I have it. But my blood sugar gone up to 11 one day. Thanx for the advice. The Times I was ill it was because I have other medical problems and are prone to catching viruses. When we are sick our blood sugars will go up temporarily. 11 is higher than normal but not anything to worry about urgently. Sorry to hear that. Having T2 diabetes makes us more likely to have infections and for them to take longer to go away, and the infections raise blood sugars. It is recommended that we get the annual flu vaccine as well as the once-only pneumonia vaccine.Thanx for the advice. Ham salad. Tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, beetroot, hard boiled eggHello. As a matter of interest what had you eaten before your BS hit 11? Do you know what it was beforehand?
Maybe try that meal again without the beetroot and see if there is a different result. Root veg can be troublesome for bg levels.Ham salad. Tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, beetroot, hard boiled egg
