So I take it you're not diagnosed with diabetes ? Bit confused, what prompted you to start taking blood glucose readings ? You're already seeing a doctor about this ? Yes, the readings are relatively high. Maybe go back and see your doctor or give a little more background information ?

hi mo, no im not diabetic my daughter was type one so know what symptons to look for so used a new machine for a few weeks then went to doctors and explained my worries ,she sent me for the hb1a test which she said was ok and sent me packing, hope that explains things a bit better ?

Hi sue, a reading of above 11 is not a normal reading for a non diabetic. have you had any illness or infection recently to account for higher readings. I would suggest re visiting your doc and request your hba1c or phone for it if u can. Also request that you have a glucose tolerance test where the hospital will measure your blood sugar, give a certain amount of a sugary drink and see your readings 1 and 2 hours later. This will give a clearer picture of what is currently happening and take things from there. Your hba1c will measure over recent months do if things have only recently changed it will not show this, good luck

Forgot to mention also ask doc to test for ketones as the thirsty and toilet trips is a sign of them. You can also get ketone strips from chemist. If you do start feeling worse go to a & e.
