I had terrible muscle aches all over and 'heavy' arms and legs. It was a real effort to move and a short walk felt like a mile I suspected it was hypo-thyroidism as that runs in the family as well as being common in type1s so went to my GP, he arranged the blood test and asked for a few other things to be checked - including vitamin D, iron, and the folic acid. I don't know if that's standard or if I was lucky and he was clued up on other possible causes and didn't assume it was my thyroid (like I had!) My advice would be just keep seeing your GP until they find what it is!
