Type of diabetes
Don't have diabetes
hi I hope this is ok, I don't have diabetes but my boy friend does.

He was diagnosed a year October 2014 but refuses to go for any check ups, he takes his tablets, then pretty much ignores it.
I am no expert but I'm pretty sure he has other symptoms relating to complications of the condition, but he's not interested.
What can I do? I've tried pleading with him to get checked out but to no avail.
 
Your boyfriend needs to take ownership of his own health. You can gently encourage him, but I dare say he may not listen. It may help him to join a support group or something... maybe you can suggest that from the angle of check out what others are doing to manage their diabetes. But until he comes to terms with it, there's not a lot that can be done. I went through a period of denial myself after diagnosis... although thankfully I didn't do that for long. During that period though if someone said something to me I'd be thinking yeh right as if you know... you don't have diabetes. It is a personal journey and hopefully he makes the right choices for himself. On a good note, at least he is taking his tablets. Do you cook for him? If you do you could probably help out that way by not cooking high carb meals. I wish you the best. :)
