Hi all,

I'm really disheartened by my latest HBA1C ... I have always been between 5-7% my last one was 6.8% (I was pregnant at the time also) and now my latest one has come back at 10.3! I have been exceedingly stressed, recently lost my granddad to the disease at 74 (good age though I think), moved house I am also on the Depo contraceptive injection.... I am just incredibly worried. I receive constant headaches to go with it also. I am just having a slight panic attack regarding the whole situation about the damage I am causing to myself etc.... The worst thing is my diet etc has not changed and no matter what I seem to do I am getting high results when blood monitoring, (e.g 16s,17s) I'm really concerned.... can anyone relate/advise?

- I am 24

Thanks

Hi - that is a bit of a hike isn't it. I think we can all relate - we've all been there a time or two.

What does your Dr/DSN suggest you do? What meds do you take at the moment?

I wouldn't get too stressed about it - it does seem as you've been through a tough time and this definitely has a direct result on your blood sugars.

You can get it back under control and on the right meds it should only take 3 - 6 months.

If I were you I would first reduce carbs. Have a look into LCHF and other low carb diet regimes. This can reduce your bg to normal levels in a few days time. With normal bg you will be able to think clearly and generally feel better.
Are you on any meds?
