Just tested my ketones got a reading of 10.9 though I feel ok could it be a faulty meter or am I better seeking advice

I see you are a newly diagnosed T1. Is this your first time testing blood ketones? Were you given any info about DKA by your care team? I don't know anything about ketone testing/meters but according to the link below if the level is over 3 you should seek medical care urgently:

If it turns out the meter is faulty this is one way to find out.

Welcome to the forum. Can you give us a little more background on your situtation...how newly diagnosed are you? What range are your BS since diagnosis?
I could be wrong but 10.9 sounds very high for a ketone reading so wonder if you've perhaps hit an incorrect setting on your meter
 
Haven't touched the meter settings at all last I checked I was 0.2
 
If in any doubt, phone your diabetes team. If it's nothing, they can reassure you, but it's always best to check if you're at all unsure.
