Help plz foot dr

If it's a normal podiatrist appointment they will examine your feet and even sometimes they cut your toenails and remove hard skin. They will also give advice regarding care of your feet, shoe wise, moisturiser etc. Nothing to be afraid of unless you have tickley feet!

I've never been offered one of these. ? Is this another GP Practice/Postcode thing ?
My first appointment with the practice nurse, she pricked my feet to see if I could feel it but nothing since ?

Perhaps it is. I used to get checked annually by the podiatrist but now it's just by the practise nurse. Cutbacks in NHS Scotland.

I was diagnosed over 3 years ago. At that time, at my surgery, we could self refer to a podiatrist by completing a form obtained through reception. It was for anyone, not just diabetics, because my husband self referred at the same time. She checked my feet, removed some hard skin, advised about shoes, moisturiser etc. and pronounced my feet in good condition. She said I would not be called back as there were no problems.

My nurse checks my feet annually with the tickling stick thing, checks for ulcers and blemishes, and checks the pulse to the feet. Her findings are recorded in my on-line pages under Consultations.

I have been referred to see a podiatrist purely because I have a numb left foot and some numbness to my right foot. I would imagine it's to do a more in depth test to see how bad the numbness is.
My surgery DN does an annual check on my feet

I have a new podiatrist at the place I go to, she gave my feet a good tickling and I near slid off the chair / bench try to stop my feet from twitching last Friday. :D

No podiatrist appointments where I live only if you have a problem that needs to be seen otherwise the nurse just checks feet for the pulse and with the prick thingy
