I am a university student, and I am heading back up next week. I am just wondering if the NHS allow me to have another glucose monitor, or will I have to purchase it? I am a newly diagnosed T1, so am a bit anxious about heading back to university with this condition, and I think it would be wise to have a spare glucose monitor..

Just give the company that make your meter a call, they should be hapy to supply! Another source would be your clinic, while I was on insulin both were happy to provide a backup meter:)

Indeed as CollieBoy said. The company that makes the meter should issue a spare for gratis.
These companies make the money on the strips. The meter you were initially issued with by the clinic was probably supplied by a "rep"? That's how it works!

In case the company don't ..... I got a third meter brand new on ebay for 1 euro (plus postage). I keep 1 at work , 1 upstairs in the bedroom and 1 in the kitchen.

I just asked my clinic for a spare meter, usually they have spares in the hospital and will happily get you one just tell them what you need it for. You can also contact the company and ask for one and they may send you one out.
