Help Needed Urgently. Please help and get this out to as many people as possible. :)

Hi all, i got this plea on my forum from a local woman who is petitioning the prime minister for more rights for disabled children and i wondered if any of you would like to help. Full details can be found here http://spiritcharms.nice-topics.com/index.htm Time is running out for Sandras plea not only for her daughter Jodie but for all parents of disabled children.

I hope this is ok to post as being a parent myself of a disabled 7 month old baby with possible Celebral Palsy,i find that it's very important that disabled children have the rights to a good a quality of life as possible by being supported by the goverment to get the correct support and education they need. Upto now Sandra's daughter 'Jodie' has had 50 major operations, and the only school she has been able to progress at which deals with disabled children is on a time limit due to Sandras own funding from family and friends and also going live on TV last year.(you can watch her video on our forum)

Sandras not stopped there as she is now fighting for not only Jodie but everybody elses disabled children in her situation.Time is running out very quickly now and she needs as many signatures as possible before August 27th 2008.Please understand that Sandra is not asking for money, only support from her petition and signing her online guestbook on Jodies website.

From Sandra
Meet my beautiful daughter, Jodie. Jodie was born 13 weeks prematurely
and is disabled. She has Cerebral Palsy, Hydrocephalus and Epilepsy.

Parents of children with Special needs have to fight hard to
get the education their children deserve. Our LEA has closed all
schools but one and considers this school adequate, despite clear
documentary evidence that this is not the case. Parents are forced into
a tribunal system that claims to be independent, and must fund the
fight themselves. We are forced to fundraise endlessly, to place our
children in a school outside the LEA area, that has a proven track
record in improving the lives of children with Cerebral Palsy, allowing
them to fulfil their potential in life.

Please consider signing our petition to the prime minister
asking that all Local Education Authorities should be made to ensure
the parent's wishes and child's needs come before any financial
considerations. Please also consider making a donation to help Jodie
stay at Paces, the school that has really made a difference to the
quality of her life.

We would really appreciate your help.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. :)

Thank you once again to all those who are signing this petition.Sandra (Jodies mum) really appreciates it and has enough on her plate,as she has been just recently diagnosed with breast cancer. But she is still fighting this for her Jodie and other parents of disabled children. :)

So thank you all :)

Hi Sparkle,
I have just signed the petition. My son has Aspergers Syndrome (a form of autism) and I think it's disgraceful how this family is being treated. I thought my son was going to have to attend a special school but luckily he got a lot of support from our local comprehensive. He is now 14 and has taken his SATs successfully. I don't know how he would have coped if he hadn't got this help, so my heart goes out to this courageous lady. Send her all my best,

Hi Bubsy,

Thank you for signing the petition and also for your well wishes. I shall pass them onto Jodies mother Sandra who I know will really appreciate your support and kind words. :) It does seem to be about the area you live in,whether you get the right support or not. It shouldn't be like that should it, every child has a right to the right kind of support, especially if it's to do with their welfare. You were obviously one of the lucky ones with your son.

I wish you all the best.

Thanks again

I've just signed up too. Don't know how i missed this thread earlier but with my own brother having cerebral palsy and epilepsy you can understand why I was only too happy to lend my support.

All the best, Choccie.

Thank you Choccie for signing the petition. :)

I guess with alot of people it's not something you really think about unless you have children of your own or know somebody who has this condition.I know there are lots of people who dont have to have children or experience of a child with celebral palsy and epilepsy, and still signed the petition to help children and their parents, but its not really something you would think about mainly.

Thanks once again......the petition closes at the end of this month 27/08/08 and already there's been a huge response from all over the net. So thank you once again for helping with this cause. I know that Sandra will really appreciate it.Sadly Jodies mum has just found out she has breast cancer and has just undergone a 14 hour operation 2 days ago. She's a very courageous woman and is still fighting for Jodie.God bless her xxx
