Hi all. Not been in for a while. Bgs gone up from 43 to 50 so have got to get back to lower carbs.

Confused today. Two hours after lunch reading was 4.2. brilliant I thought. Did it before evening meal and had gone to 6.2 . All I had had was one glass of no added sugar squash and two cups of tea. Why?

Help please.

Hi @1954jessy. It could be a number of things. What was your before-lunch reading, and what is your fasting reading first thing in the morning? Did you have any sugar, milk or cream in your tea?

Did not do before lunch reading as was out semi skimmed milk in tea. First thing this morning 7.7 which is good for me.

Glad your fasting BG was 7.7, you are heading in the right direction and it will take time to come down to where you want it to be.

I suggest testing before a meal and 2 hours after, as it's impossible to know what happened if we don't have the first test result.

There is a little bit of sugar in milk so it pays to take that into account.

Why stress? 6.2 is still within the normal range - even for a non diabetic. Remember this would still be classified as a non fasting result.

Stress will only make your BGs worse!
