I've been diabetic for about 13 years now and am still finding it very hard to keep under control. My blood sugars are quite bad and I'm very bad at checking them.. I'm also quite lazy at remembering to take my needles so I usually have to end up taking more insulin than usual before bed, which leaves me getting up in the middle of the night hunting for some sugar!

I really need some advice because if I don't I'm afraid something bad will happen... and blindness is my main worry!

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Thanks

Help me :(

Hi Scottish Brian,
Alas, I can't give you the proverbial Kick up the b um, which is what you need. I know exactly where you are coming from, and it took a bad scare and some laser surgery to jolt me into looking after myself properly. Alas, this is something you have to do your own way....but please don't be a daft as I was!
Just joining this site, and writingyou post show that youa re thinking about it though...and this is a great start!

Hello Brian,

The first thing you need to do is get a grip on yourself. Sorry to be blunt, but your attitude to your diabetes shows that you are in denial. You say you are worried about going blind. Well, you can carry on like are and you will probably lose your sight, then your toes, then limbs. Or you can do something about it. NOW.

You want help. Well I'm sorry but nobody on this forum can make you eat the right things to control your blood sugars, or make you inject the right amounts at the right times. Only you can do that, so when are you going to start?
