I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in October then just before Christmas I was placed on mediformin. Then last week I was placed on the slow releasing mediformin due to the affects it was having in me.
Boy I feel horrible now. My stomach doesn't know what to do with itself. It's been bad .
Has anyone else had problems with the slow release medication ?My nurse was really surprised when I told her.

Unfortunately, yup. I was put on SR from day one, per my request, because of my IBS. It took four months for my stomach to calm down. Do you take it *with* food, and with a full glass of water? I am perfectly fine with it now but it did take quite a while.

I had issues with one brand of SR but it was more to do with feeling very headachy and ill rather than upset tum/runs. Our practice pharmacist changed the brand and made a note not to give me the problem one.

Taking metformin and eating starchy food can sometimes cause "windy" problems so you may need to watch what you're eating?

But you do also need to allow some time for things to settle down again - if you can possibly manage to.
