Hi as i mentioned this morning im new to testing my blood sugars and ive just freaked out! I had lunch at 1.10pm just checked my blood sugar and it reads 10.5....is this very high! Sorry to ask im just concerned

What did you eat ?

10.5 is above the recommended level 2 hours after eating, but not dangerously so.

I would treat it as a lesson learned.

I had a mugshot...too many carbs i think :( i wont be having one of those again thats for sure!...should i check again in say half an hour? Thanks for reply

As a matter of interest, what were you before you ate? That might help decide just how bad your lunch was. The actual rise is probably more educational than the level of the spike. Current thinking is we should pay more attention to the variance in our levels because too much variance from our median level is what causes damage.

Just checked again its now 6.8. I didnt check before i had food because ive been told yo checl 2 hours afterwards. Should i check before hand? Im new to all this so im just learning. It was 6.4 when i woke this morning.

I guess it was your nurse that told you when to check. To be perfectly honest, it is a complete waste of time checking 2 hours after without knowing what you were before. Suppose you were 10 before you ate - that rise of 0.5 to 10.5 would be excellent!! So yes, you must check before.
