Hi All

I contracted Hepatitis C about 35 years ago through infected blood products (I'm haemophiliac).

I was diagnosed with Type 2 about 8 years ago and I'm on Metformin and insulin. My blood sugar is poorly controlled but this is a lot to do with the complications of controlling BG with Hep C.

I'm just undergoing treatment for the Hep C and my viral load has dropped from 3,300,000 to 16 (yes, sixteen) in the first 2 weeks of treatment and I'm not about 4 weeks into a 12 week course.

So, 2 out of the last 3 nights I've had cracking hypos at about 1.00am.

Weirdly, I ran out of Metformin on Friday so my hypo last night was based on no Metformin for 2 days and 18 units of insulin taken last night.

This means that my body must be making use of insulin without Metformin.

There are sketchy studies to show that there is a relationship between Hep C and Type 2 diabetes but nothing really about the effect of anti-viral medication.

I just wondered if there are any other Hep C people out there (to start with) and whether anyone has had a similar experience.

Cheers
Andy
