So, still don't know what type I am. But it appears that the Glicazide is working too well as I've just had my 2nd hypo in 18 hours.
Clinic closed, so called NHS 24 to discuss strategy. Call handler was class.

"Hello, what seems to be the problem?"

"I'm a recently diagnozed diabetic. Type unknown being treated with meds. Had 3 hypos in the last week the last 2 in the last 18 hours and I'd like to discuss treatment changes until I can call my clinic on Monday morning."

"Hypo? So your blood's high then?"

Anyway the nurse I eventually got was great and I've to supplement my meals with a little sugar since I've been in the low fours a lot. They reckon that the clinic will put me on insulin to better regiment my levels.

Because I am on Gliclazide and I had to reduce my tablets because of Hypo's. I solved the problem myself by first taking only half a tablet instead of a whole one. The readings then were much better......

I thought about doing that, but want to hear it from the Doctor first. Really don't want to take chances.

"Hypo" and "hyper" can sound very similar over the phone, so I reckon the NHS call handler was just trying to establish what you'd said. Main thing is that you got the right advice from a health professional.

They just halfed my Glicazide.

If halving the Gliclazide dose helped, you probably don't need insulin. The one advantage of using it that I can see is that you can vary the doses. You can cut gliclazide tablets and do the same with them. I was on it a few years back and only on 1/2 tablet per day.
By cutting my carbs, I got right off it.

My doc thinks it's just wringing the last insulin out of a fairly ******** pancreas. He reckons only a 13% I'm Type 2, but here's hoping.

The doctor has a few tests he can order to confirm, however, where has he got a number like 13%?
I can't see why you should be hoping it's T1 not T2
I'm just being curious

I suspect it may well be T2, if Gliclazide is helping. If you reduce your carbs to a level that you can deal with, you may be able to cut the Glic even more( I Never wait for the doctor myself, but just do what seems right. I have the right kind of scientific background to have got away with that so far).
