On s low carb diet, In the absense of carbs, protein can turn to bg via gluconeogenisis. You might check your protein portions. Protein also spikes insulin almost as much as carbs. Lowering my protein turned things around for me.Been to docs and this is hoe it went. Test for Type 1 not done....came back insufficient sample so off for another blood test tomorrow. HBA1c not good.....was 86 when diagnosed 2 years ago and then i got it down to 58. Is now 96 ie more than when diagnosed. On two Metformin a day and now been prescribed Gliclazide today. The good news was my blood pressure is normal and despite now eating 25+ eggs a week my cholesterol had reduced from 5 to 4.4. X
Yes, eggs and cheese both have protein. I stick to the .8-1g per kg LEAN body mass for my protein so I eat about 43g per day ( 5-6 weighted oz). Each ounce has an average of 7g protein. Then I eat less than 20g carbs coming from above ground green veg, avocado, nuts. The rest I fill in with fat just until satisfied. My main fats are avocado, mayo, olive oil ( not often , I don’t care for it much) olives and macadamia or pecans.Thank you. I was be eating nothing soon lol. Prob is am running out of ideas of what to eat if got to watch protein too. Am i right in thinking eggs and cheese both contain protein? What sort of things do u eat? Having said that when i have protein rolls it tends to drop a bit. Xx
@Caz_B i know what you mean with doctors I have a diabetic review in January but because they did a blood test in October they say I don't need another, so in October my bloods where fine but this was done to to see if I had gout not for the rest of my BG tests,I haven't had any results for cholesterol or my Hba1c levels in 12 months and they just what to use Octobers results for my yearly review in January. It's just not good enough once a year we type2s have a review and it should be everything not just use past part done results for there convenience, how hard is it for them once they have my bloods to test for full fasting bloods to give me a proper picture of what's going on!! KI cannot believe they don't actually test for what type you are when you are diagnosed rather than just assume you are type 2 due to your age. X
