Hey there,
My name is Robyn, I'm 19 years old, I'm from the Isle of Skye in Scotland (soon moving to Edinburgh for college) and I'm new to the site!

I've had diabetes type 1 since the age of 10 (diagnosed Feb' 2000) but now, almost 10 years later, I have absolutely NO idea what I'm doing. I guess I'd have to say that I've been in denial about it, so never listened to anybody or took any information in whatsoever about my condition.

I have been depressed since the age of 11/12, and let it consume me. Then at the start of this year, after various different conditions, addictions and habbits developed due to my depression, I turned over a new leaf! I have to say the catalyst was my boyfriend, Dan, who's very lovely and supportive about everything, and eager to learn about diabetes too. I sorted my life out, applied to college (and got in with an unconditional! Woo!) and started feeling truly happy, for the first time in my life. I've realised now that to complete my happiness I need to sort out my diabetes, and that's why I'm here.

Today I was ranting at one of my friends about my difficulties with diabetes and the strain it puts on everything (especially my relationship with my parents) and he just said "You should look online and find help". So tonight, I took the first step and did it, and here I am!

I think I'm generally going to need to know everything about every aspect of being diabetic, treatment, treating hypos, treating highs, insulin doses, food, everything. And I'm hoping that I'll be able to eventually handle my diabetes more thoroughly.

I hope I can make some new friends here and learn a lot
(:
