my complete lack of motivation about anything.
:D Hi, my name is Amber. i'm 18 and was diagnosed with diabetes a few weeks ago. i also have pcos, diagnosed about a year ago. i've had diabetes symptoms for almost 2 years now but my old doctor didnt really take me seriously so only now have i found out.

both my parents, grandparents have diabetes and heart problems, so it runs in the family, i expected to get either/both of these, i just didn't think it would be this soon.

anyway, i've been put on metform, one 500mg pill twice daily, although i don't think im doing enough exercise or eating as healthily as i should be...ive never been one to eat lots of chocolate or cake but i think you notice them foods more when you know you shouldn't be eating them...

i joined here to meet other people like me, but also some motivation and positivity.

PS. Cool nick, shame about Orpheus letting you down like that!

i find it all a bit confusing and i think it is going to take some time to get use to it all.
i am not the chocolate eater either but since i know i am not allowed it i seem to want more of it how weird.

i'm type 2, yeah i had pretty much all the usual symptoms like thirst, bad breath and i especially get the 'shakes' if i don't eat in enough time...

i think im mostly confused about what to eat and what not to, like ive been checking all the packets of everything and i dont know if im suppose to be watching carbs or sugars or carbs of which sugar saturate or whatever rubbish, so ive been eating what i think is healthy and maybe kinda putting a tiny bit of marmalade on my toast or something now and again >.<

you'd think the doctors might be doing routine check-ups for diabetes on everyone really,or at least everyone who says they have a particular symptom, instead they make you try out a million different medicines for other things then finally decide to do a simple blood test after 2 years.

anyways, rant over, welcome to the forum jonny, i havnt really replied to any other threads, i dont think i have enough knowledge yet as im still learning.

and thanks for the reply skotish...i live in scotland :)
